Facing the Giants: The Little Film that could.

//www.facingthegiants.com/_images/_resources/ftg_150bannerFrom the depths of hopelessness and despair this little film rose to great heights as it tackled one giant after the other.

From the award-winning producers of FLYWHEEL comes a new, action-packed, family-friendly drama about a high school football coach who draws up a new game plan for his team … and himself.

Fear, doubt and unbelief has gripped this small town football team and the players and families. Defeat as taken over every aspect of Coach Taylor’s life. In his six years of coaching, Grant Taylor has never had a winning season. Even the hope of a new season is squelched when the best player on his Shiloh Eagles decides to transfer schools. After losing their first three games of the season, the coach discovers a group of fathers are plotting to have him fired. Combined with pressures at home, Coach Taylor has lost hope in his battle against fear and failure. Faced with the possibility of losing his job, a broken down car, a home with a foul smell, the inability to have children, all seems lost for Grant.

However, all these unexpected challenges helps him find a purpose bigger than just victories. Daring to trust God to do the impossible, Coach Taylor and the Eagles discover how faith plays out on the field … and off. Finding the source of the foul smell to a dead rat in the heating system sets off a chain of events of tackling one stinking rat after the other until the impossible becomes possible. The giants of fear, doubt and not believing in one’s self were all personal giants that had to be dealt a death blow before the Eagles would be able to soar above the smell of stinking rats.

Although preachy and not for those who take offense to the mention of God, Jesus and the reading of the bible and prayer, this film speaks volumes of the difference faith makes in a life. Tackling the stereotypes of Christians in film, and the giant of political correctness this film hit hard on many levels. Produced in the church house this project shows what can be done when people believe in something greater than themselves and work to make a difference. Probably this film will not garner any awards for great acting, writing or screen play but it will certainly win over hearts and minds as those who have suffered defeat find new hope.

A positive sound track with such artists as Bebo Norman, Third Day, and Casting Crowns supported the positive message of the movie as only a Contemporary Christian artist soundtrack could. Mark Willard’s song "With God" ended the movie elegantly. The words were uplifting and meaningful you could not help but sing it as you exited the building full of hope and positive energy.

The message of the film? With God, all things are possible … Even a solid bible film can be made and shown in a big time Hollywood theater.

Foley's Folly

It is interesting to see how the two parties differ in their approach of dealing with sex offenses. The Wall Street Journal recently ran a story concerning sexual misbehavior by six congressmen over the past three decades: three Democrats and three Republicans.
For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed. Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one is an hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still. Isaiah 9:16 and 17 (KJV)

180px-Mark_FoleyLet me see if I completely understand all this Foleygate stuff. He has admitted that he is a Roman Catholic, homosexual, “child predator”, who resigned in disgrace and we are bashing him why?

Because he is Roman Catholic? Well it is totally acceptable in our current political society to bash Catholics after all we darn near burned the POPE in effigy for reading history about old world Islam.

Well it must be because as a Roman Catholic he was “engaging in pedophilia”, and this is new? I thought it was acceptable for Catholics to molest young altar boys? Catholic Bishops have been moving pedophile Priests around from parish to parish for years.

It couldn’t be because he is a homosexual could it? Gay bashing is politically incorrect and considered a hate crime. Are all these people who are bashing Foley going to be brought up on charges of hate crimes?

Perhaps it is because he was molested by a Catholic Priest while young? Again where did he learn his behavior from? Apparently it is acceptable to be a practicing, homosexual, pedophile, Roman Catholic, because he is still a member in good standing, proudly proclaiming that fact while being removed from office.

All we seem to know is that he was having virtual sex (talking dirty on the internet) with supposedly young pages, who did not know he was a creepy old guy? Am I supposed to believe that these pages were not laughing their backsides off at this old creepy guy sending dirty messages over the internet? It wasn’t like he actually had real sex. We did not consider phone sex with Monica to be a offense worth removing one from office when Bill Clinton did it. After all his personal life should not matter to his public life right?

If the church won’t ex-communicate Foley, if the homosexual community will not rise up and ban sexual advances on young boys, and if the democrats will not kick out their homosexual members than perhaps they should just sit back and remain quiet like they have all the times before.
